Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) - recently signed an agreement with Network Security Solutions (NSS) of India to design an information security policy for the company.

Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA), Sri Lanka organised an IS Security Workshop in Colombo last week, as a part of the e-Sri Lanka Development Project. The aim of the training was to empower the Chief Innovative Officers (CIOs) with IT management skills and knowledge of Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) as a part of the e-government development project. The training was attended by the CIOs from various government departments like the Army, Air Force, Police, and Ministry of Customs, Survey, Public Administration, Urban Land Development and etc. Read more

Celcom: Nationwide 3G service by July 15

MOBILE operator Celcom (Malaysia) Bhd will expand its third-generation (3G) services coverage nationwide by July 15, chief executive officer Datuk Shazalli Ramly said.
The company recently added five new areas for its 3G coverage, namely Seremban, Ipoh, Alor Star, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.

THE government's tightening the noose on IT security compliance and it's not just for government companies. According to the security compliance guidelines that have been drafted by CERT-In under the DIT, all government and critical infrastructure organisations — both public and private — must have a security policy, implement it and be subject to annual security audits.
