Vault is a mobile security application developed by NSS, that enables a user to encrypt and hide selective information like Draft messages, images and videos; restricting unauthorized access to the same.
What does Vault do?
Draft Messages Encryption
Vault allows a mobile user to secure the messages in draft folder by encrypting and hiding the messages from the native draft. A user can view the encrypted message from application console only. The messages which are not encrypted can be seen from the native draft and also in application console. Additional to SMS encryption Vault uses digital signature scheme for demonstrating the authenticity of a digital message. A valid digital signature gives a recipient reason to believe that the message was created by a known application, and that it was not altered. Digital signatures are commonly used to detect forgery and tampering.
Images and Video Encryption
In addition to messages, Vault also facilitates to encrypt and hide the images and videos form phone memory and external memory card. A user can encrypt and hide images and videos present on the phone by selecting and encrypting it from the application console. Images and videos can be encrypted/ decrypted on demand. Once decrypted the image and videos appears again in the original location.
For added security, Vault comes with Auto Timeout feature. If the application is inactive or is not closed properly, it will close the application automatically after a particular interval. This feature ensures that there is no unauthorized access even when user forgets to close the application, or the application goes to the background and get into the hands of unauthorized person. When the person try to open the application it will ask for the password to access the application. A user can specify the Timeout period as per his usage.
